The afd William West being present here in Court
in his proper person is at the prayer of the afd
John Purnall by his attorney afd adjudged to give
Speciall bail to the action afd but for want thereof
the said William West is Committed into the Custody of
the Sheriffe of Somerset County thereto remain &^c

            the said sheriffe to witt Joshua Caldwell
Gent present herein Court took Charge of the said
William West accordingly &^c

      And whereupon the said William West in Custody
as afd present here in Court in his proper person
defends the force and Injury when &^c and saith
that he Cannot gainsay the action afd of the afd

John Purnall nor Can he say but that he did assume upon himselfe in manner and form as the
afd John above against him hath Complained and as to the damage of the Same John by him by
Occasion of the premises in that part sustained the said William says and Confesseth that
the afs.^d John has Sustained Damages by Occasion of the premises farther that his Costs
and Charges by him about his suit in that part apposed to two thousand Two hundred
and fifty two pounds of Tob.^o and not more and because the aforesaid John Denys
not this but the same Allegation Confesseth to be true prays Judgment for those
Damages above Confessed and his Costs and Charges afs^d to him adjudged &^c
Therefore by Consent of the parties aforesaid it is Considered that the aforesaid
John Purnall Recover against the aforesaid William West his Damages afs.^d
to the afs.^d two thousand two hundred and fifty two pounds of tob.^o by the same
William in form afs.^d Confessed as also four hundred and Ninty three pounds of
tobacco for his Costs and Charges afs.^d to the
