    To the Worshipfull Justices of Somerset County now Sitting the Petition of Elianor
Bryan Sheweth that your petitioner is unjustly detained as a Servant by Emanuel
Manlyfee and Magdalene his wife administratrix of Samuel Owens dec.d   Your petitioner therefore
prays your worships will be pleased to order that Said Manlyff Shew Cause why he holds me as Such
or Else I humbly pray your worships will Set me at Liberty and your petitioner as in duty bound

                      The petition aforesaid being Read and heard and fully understood and mature deliberation
thereupon had as well on the part of the petitioner as on the part of the Said Emanuel
Manlyffe (both partyes present herein Court) as also their Severall allegations

       Wherefore it is Considered by the Court that the aforesaid Elianor Bryan from the ^service of the^ aforesaid Emanuel
Manlyffe and Magdalene admrx of Samuiel Owens dec.d be acquitt and goe thereof without day &c

Somerset County ss    Be it Remembred tat Levin Gale Esq.r prosecutor of his Lordships
pleas and Clerk of Indictments within the County aforesaid this fifteenth day of
June in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and thirty One Comes into his Lordships
County Court in the Same Count before the worshipfull Samuel hopkins Esq.r and his associates his
Lordships Justices of the Same Court and Gives to the Same Court to understand and be Informed that
Eleanor Bryan late of Somerset County Spinster the thirtieth day of June in the Year of Our Lord
One thousand Seven hundred and twenty Nine at Somerset County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court
did Committ Fornication with a Certain person unknown against the peace of the Said Lord proprietary
and also against the form of the act of assembly in Such Case made and provided wherefore the Said
Levin prays advisment of the Court in the premisses and that due process of Law may Issue

           Thereupon Command is Given to the Sher of Somerset County that he Should take the Said Eleanor
Bryan if &.c to answer &.c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said Eleanor Bryan and being by the
Sher Set to the Barr is thereupon Instantly demanded how She would acquitt herselfe of the premisses
above upon her Imposed Says that of the premisses afd so as aforesaid above Imposed says that
She is not Guilty thereof and thereof for tryall putts herselfe upon the Country and Levin Gale who
for his Said Lordship in this behalfe prosecuts in Like manner &c

       Afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said Eleanor Bryan in her Own proper person and relinquisheth
her verification afd by her above pretended and Says that she Cannot Gainsay but that She is Guilty of pre^misses^
above upon her Imposed but hath not wherewithall to pay her fine for the fact afd &c
wherefore it is Considered by the Court here that the Said Eleanor Bryan be whipt with twenty five Lashes on
the bear Back well Laid on & that she be taken &c thereupon as to the Corporall punishment afd Command is
Given to the Sher of Somerset County that he do thereof Immediate Execution by whiping the afd Eleanor Bryan
at the publick whiping post with twenty five Lashes well Laid on untill the blood appear and afterwards
in the Same Court Came the Said Sher and makes Return that he hath done the Execution of the Judgmt afd
as to the Corporall punishment afd he was Commanded whereupon its ordered by the Court here that the
afd Eleanor Bryan Give Security for the payment of Severall Officers their fees due by occasion of the premisses
thereupon George Dashiell of Somerset Coty Gentm present here in Court became Security to pay ye fees due &c
