pounds of tobacco and all actions personall now depending before you and after Judgm.t Execution to
award in all Such Cases and actions aforesaid according to the Laws Statutes and Ordinances afd
in which Said actions so to be tryed we do constitute ordain and appoint you the Said Samuel
Hopkins, William Planner, John Jones William Fasit John Smith William Stoughton, John Caldwell
John MccClester John Handy James Dashiell John Scott Robert King, James Martin and William Lane
and none others to be Judges also by these presents we do Command the Sherriffe of Our Said County
of Somerset that at the Severall Courts to be held for Our Said County he Give his attendance and Cause to
Come before You or any three or more of you as aforesaid such and so many good and Lawfull men of
his bailywick out of each and Every hundred thereof by whom the truth of the matter in the
premisses may be the better known and Enquired of Lastly you Shall cause to be brought before
you at your Said Courts all writts preceipts process and Indictments to your Courts and Jurisdiction belonging
that the Same may be Inspected and by due Course of Law determined Wittness our dear
Brother Benedict Leonard Calvert Esq.r Our Lieu.t Generall and Chiefe Governour in and over this
our province of maryland this third day of June in the Seventeenth Year of Our Dominion &c  Annoq
Dom 1731               (Great Seal)               Bendict Leon.d Calvert

    On the backside of the foregoeing Commission it was thus endorsed viz.t

Maryland ss.t   Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and Avalon Lord
Baron of Baltemore &.c  To William Planner, John Jones, William Fasit, John Smith William Stoughton
John Caldwell and John Macclester of Somerset County Gent.m  Greeting we do hereby Authorize and
Impower you or Either of you to administer the Severall Oaths appointed by act of assembly
to be taken to the Government as also the Oath of Justice in the words following viz.t

             You A. B. do swear that as a justice of this his Lordships County Court you will well
and truely Serve his Lordship and do equall right to all his Majesties Subjects to the Best of your
Cuning and Skill and Cause all Fines Forfeitures and Amerciaments which Shall happen to fall
before you to ^be^ entered without Concealment you will not debar or hinder the prosecution of Justice or
taken any Gift or Fee for the delaying of Judgm.t but Justly and truely abear ^your selfe so Long as you
Shall Continue in the Said Office of Justice as aforesaid      So help You God

                unto Samuel Hopkins John Handy James Dashiell John Scott Robert King James Martin
and William Lane of the Same County Gent.m or any of them and You the Said Samuel Hopkins John
Handy James Dashiell John Scott Robert King James Martin and William Lane or any of you having
taken the Said Oaths are hereby Impowered to administer the Same to the Justices and Commissioners
Respectively as they are nominated in the within Commission and we Will that You and Every of you
having taken the Said Oaths do Severally Subscribe the test and Oath of abjuration and for so doing
this Shall be Your Sufficient Warrent and Authority hereof fail not and when you have the same
so done you are to Certifie the Same under Your hands & Sealls ^to us^ for Our high Court of Chancery with all
Convenient Speed Wittness Our Dear Brother Bened.t Leon.d Calvert Esqr our Lieu.t Genenarall and Chiefe
Governour in and Over this Our province of Maryland this third day of June in the Seventeenth Year of
Our Dominion &c  Ann Dom 1731
