memorand.m the plft by Levin Gale his attorney sued out his Lordships writt of attachment
against the deft the tenor whereof followeth in these words vizt
Somerset ss  Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of maryland
       and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c   To the Sher of Somerset County Greeting we Command
you that you attach any the Goods Chattells rights or Creditts of William Wye Late of Somerset County Clerk
otherwise Called William Wye of the County of Northumberland and parish of S.t Stevens of Colony
of Vergenia if they Shall be found in your bailywick to the value of one hundred and ten pounds
Currant Money of Maryland and Eighteen hundred pounds of Tobacco and when
you have the Same attached or any part thereof the SAme in your Custody safe
keep so that your have the same before our Justices of our County Court of Somrset
to be held at Dividing Creek the third tuesday of march next then and there to be
Condemned according to act of assembly to satisfie John Shapleigh of a Certain
Debt of one hundred pounds Currant Money of Vergenia of the Value of one
hundred and tenn pounds Currant Money of Maryland as also three
hundred and forty two pounds of Tobacco for his Damages Sustained by
occasion of the Detaining of the Same Debt &c    Whereof he is Convict and
that by good and Lawfull men of your bailywick you make known unto
the Person or persons in whose hands you make the same Attachment
that he she or they be and appear before our Justices of our County Court to
be held as aforesd to shew Cause if any he she or they have why the same
goods Chattells Rights or Creditts so attached in his her or their hands ought
not to be Condemned and Execution thereof had and made according to
act of assembly in Such Case made and provided if to him her or them it
Shall Seem meet and how you Shall Execute this writt that you make
known unto our said Justices at the day and place aforesd and have you
then and there this writt wittness Sam.ll Hopkins Gent Chief Justices of our
Said Court the twentyeth Day of November in the Seventeenth Year of our
Dominion &c   Anno Dom one thousand Seven hundred and thirty one

       Att which said third tuesday of March ann D to witt the twenty first day of the same month anno Dom One
thousand Seven hundred and thirty One being the day of the Return of the Said Writt Cometh ye Said John
Shapleigh by his attorney aforesaid and the Sher of Somerset County to whom the foregoeing writt was
directed Likewise Cometh and maketh Return thereof to the Court here endorsed in these words following vizt
 
    By Vertue of the within writt to me directed to the Justices within Mentioned I Certifie that I have attached
as the Goods and Chattells of the within Named William Wye in my Own hands Eleven thousand five
hundred pounds of tobacco of the Value of fifty five pounds ten shillings Curr money &c as by
the within writt I am Commanded so answers      Joshua Caldwell sher

    And the afd Joshua Caldwell Garnishee of the afd William Wye in his proper person Cometh and
