Tuesday in June ann Dom Seventeen hundred and thirty and one by the Said Lord propry his Justices the peace in the Said County to Conserve assigned of Whome were present Maj.r Henry Ennalls M.r Charles Nutter M.r Tobias Pollard M.r Jn.o Hodson M.r Walter Campbell M.r Anthony Rawlings M.r Thomas Woolford and M.r Thomas Hicks
County the Second tuesday of march anno Dom Seventeen hundred and thirty to answere unto Penelope Murphy of a plea of trespass upon the Case Att which day here Cometh the aforesd Penelope by Thom.s Bluett her attorney and the Sher of the County aforesd returned that he hath taken the aforesd Thomas and him hath ready according to the Exigence of the writt aforesd And thereupon the Said Penelope declared against the afd Thomas in the Plea aforesd in forme following Thomas Tompson Late of Dorchester County Gentleman was Attached to answere unto Penelope Murphy of a plea of trespass upon the Case And Whereupon the Same Penelope by Thomas Bluett her Attorney Complains that whereas the Same Penelope is a good faithfull and honest Subject of our Lord the king that now is as ^a^ good faithfull and honest Subject of our Lord the king and of Divers of his progenitors Late Kings and Queens of England from the time of her Nativity hitherto herselfe hath behaved and Governed and of Good name fame Creditt Conversation and behaviour amongst all her Neighbours and other faithfully Subjects of our said Lord the King to whome the Same Penelope was known through all the time afd was held and reputed and no felony or any such Crime hitherto hath Committed or perpetrated but a good and honest way of Living hitherto hath had and followed by pretext of which and her honest Labour and Industry the Same Penelope so much profit among her Neighbours and other faithfull Subjects of our said Lord the kind did obtain and gett as did Sustain her in a beautifull and hansome manner Nevertheless the Said Thomas not being Ignorant of the Premisses butt minding and Maliciously Intending the Same Penelope not only of her good Name fame Credit and Esteem afd to Deprive but also her the Said Penelope |
