        Pounds of Tobacco for her Cost and Charges afd to the Same Betty at her request
        by the Court here and the Consent of the parties aforesd adjudged which
        Certain in the whole do amount to Six pounds Eleven Shillings & two pence & two hundred & fifteen
        tobacco and the aforesd Henry in Mercy &c

widdow was attached to answer unto John Dennis Jun.r of a plea of
trespass upon the Case &c
                                              And whereupon the Said John by Francis Allen his attorney Complaines that
whereas the Said Elizabeth the thirteenth day of December Anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred
and thirty at Somerset County aforesd within the Jurisdiction of this Court
was Indebted unto the said John in five pounds tenn Shillings Currant Money
of Maryland as by a Certain Note by the Said Eliz.a Signed and hereunto
annexed may in Court appear and being so thereof Indebted the Said Eliz in
Consideration thereof the day and Year aforesd at Somerset County afd within
the Jurisdiction aforesd upon herself did assume and to the Said John then
and there did faithfully promise that She the Said Eliz.a the Said five pounds
tenn Shillings to the Said John when she Should be thereunto Requested
she would well and faithfully pay and Content  Nevertheless the Said
Elizabeth her promise and assumption aforesd in forme aforesd made
Nothing Regarding but Plotting and fraudulently Intending the said
John in that part Craftilly and Subtilly to Deceive and Defraud the afd
five pounds tenn Shillings to the Said John altho' the Same to do the
Said Elizabeth by the aforesd John on the aforesd thirteen^th^ day of Decemb.r
in the Year aforesd and often afterwards at Somerset County afd within
the Jur afd he was thereunto requested hath not paid or to him for the
Same in any Sort Contented but the Same to him hitherto to pay or in
any Sort to Content hath refused and Still doth Refuse and Deny
whereupon he saith he is worse and hath Damage to the Value of Eleven
pounds Money afd and thereupon he brings Suit &c

    Whereupon the Said Eliz.a Townsend being Called appears thereupon the Said Eliz.a Townsend at the prayer
of the said John Dennis by his attorney afd is adjudged to Give Speciall Bail to the action aforesaid
but for want thereof the Said Eliz.a is Committed into the Custody of the Sher of Somerset County thereto remaine
whereupon the Said Sher to witt John Purnall Gent present here in Court took Charge of the Said Eliz.a accordingly
thereupon day is Given to the afd Eliz.a Townsend in Custody as afd here untill next Court & the Same day is
Given to the afd plft here also &c

       Att which said Next Court to witt the fifteenth day of June Anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and
thirty One Came againe as well the afd John Dennis by his attorney afd as the Said Eliz.a Townsend in her proper
person in Custody as afd and whereupon further day is Given to the said Eliz.a in Custody as afd by the
Court here untill the next Court and the Same day is Given to the afd plft here also &c
