 Somersett fs    Isaac Rappoon Late of Somersett County planter was

attached to answer unto John Parker of a plea of trespass upon ye Case &c
                         And Whereupon the Same Jno Per George Dashiell his attorney Complaines that whereas
       the same John is good true and Honest Leege Subject of Our Lord the King that now is and
       as a pious and Honest Person of this Government from the time of his Nativity hither to hath
       Behaved himselfe and of a good Name fame Gesture Condition and honest Conversation amongst
       good honest and Prudent men and women as well his Neighbours as other faithfull subjects of
       of Our said Lord the King now and his predecessors Late Kings and Queens of the realm of
       great Brittan was held Called and Known and without any Plot of thieft or any the like
       fault or hurtfull Crime or any suspestion thereof unsplotted and untainted by the whole time afd
       hath Behaved and Govened himselfe by Pretext whereof the said Jn.o Not Only the Love and
       favour of all his Neighbours and other faithfull Subjects of our Lord the King Deservedly had
       and Obtained but also his person from punishm.t and all and singular his goods and Chattells free
       and Clear from all penalties and forfeitures as the Law in such Cases Directs hath Kept and
       Preserved Nevertheless the afd Isaac Rappoon being not Ignorant of the promisses of his own
       Mere and wicked Mallace fore thought Plotting and Maliciously Intending the said John not only
       in his good Name fame Creditt Esteem and Reputation afd to hurt Detract scandelize make
       worse and altogether to Blacken and him the said John into Evill opinion and Esteem as well
       of all his Neighbours as other faithfull Subjects of our Lord the King to Endue & Create
       but also Cause him the said John Innocently to be brought in Danger of suffering Corporall
       punishment by whiping and Pillowing and paying four fold as the Law in Such Cases direct;
       at alhollows Parrish in Somersett County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court on the
       tenth Day of May Anno Dom one thousand Seven hundred and twenty six these
       false feigned Scandelous and Malisious words and Lies in the presence and hearing of
       Severall the good People of the County afd with an Audible Voice did utter Pronounce
       and reherse; John Parker (speaking of and Meaning the afd John) is a rogue and a thief
       for he (the said Jno Meaning) stole his Mares (the said Isaac Rappoons Mars Meaning)
       and he the said Isaac Meaning would Prove it by Pretext of speaking which falce
       and scandelous words and Likes the said Jno is not Only in his good Name fame Credit State
       and Reputation which before was Innocent is Greviously hurt by but also the same
       Jn.o Divers Sums of Money and tob.o in and about the premisses afd hath Expended
       and Laid Out to Clear his Innocency whereupon the same Jn.o says he is
