219 Somersett ss Att a Court of the Right honrble Charles absolute Lord and Proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &.c held at dividing Creekth in Somersett County by his said Lordships Commissioners and Justices of the County afd the peace to keep assigned third tuesday of November being the Eighteenth day of the Same month and in the fifteenth year of his said Lordships dominion &.c anno: Dom: 1729 Present
His said Lordships Commission of the Peace for the County of Somersett being her produced was read in these words following vizt Maryland ss.t Charles absolute Lord and Proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To Samuel Hopkins, Wm Planner, John Jones, W.m Fasitt John Smith Baltemore hundred William Stoughton, John Caldwell, John MccClester, John Handy James Dashiell, John Scott and Robert King of Somersett County Gent Greeting Know yee that we have assigned you and Every of you and Joyntly and Severally Our Justices to keep our Peace within Our County of Somersett and to do Equall law and Right to all the kings Subjects Rich and poor according to the acts of assembly of our said Province of Maryland so far Fourth as they provide and where they are silent according to the Laws Statutes and reasonable Customs of England agreeable to the Usage and Constitution of the Same province for the Conservation of the peace and quiet rule and Governm.t of the kings Subjects within Our said County and to Chastise and punish all persons offending against the said acts laws Statutes and Customs or any of them according to the directions thereof or to Call before you or any of you who in Our County afd shall threaten to do any bodily harme to any of the kings subjects or to burn their houses or Otherwise to break their peace and misbehave themselves to find Sufficient Security of the peace and good behaviour to us and the Said Subjects and if they shall refuse to find such security that then you Cause them to be Committed into Safe Custody untill they Shall be delivered by due Course of Law from thence Alsoe we have assigned you and Every three of you or more of you of whom we wold you the said Samuel Hopkins William Planner, John Jones, William Fasitt and John Smith Balt.r Hundred or any of you allways to be One Our Justices to Enquire by the Oaths of good and lawfull of our County afd by whom the truth of the premisses may be the better known of all and all manner of felonies witchcrafts Enchantments Sorceries arts Magick trespasses Engrossing regratings forestallings and Extortions whatsoever and of all Other Missfeazances and Offences whatsoever of which Justices of ^our^ the peace lawfully may or Ought to Enquire by whomsoever or howsoever in our County afd done or Committed or which may hereafter happen to be done or Committed and also of all those who in Our County afd in Riotous manner have gone or Rode or shall hereafter presume to goe or ride with armed force against our peace to the disturbance of the kings Subjects and of all Such who in Our County afd have Lain or shall hereafter |
