1725 45 Personall of what sort soever wherein the demand doth not Exceed the sum of one hundred pounds Sterling or thirty thousand pounds of tobacco and all actions Personall now depending before you be the demand how great soever and after Judgm.t Execution to award in all such Causes & Actions afd according to the Laws Orders and Customs of that part of the Kingdom of Great Brittain Called England as of this Our province of maryland in which actions so t be tryed we do Constitute ordain and appoint you the said Samuel Hopkins W.m Planner, John Jones, William Fasitt John Smith William Stoughton John Caldwell, John MccClester, John Handy, James Dashiell, John Scott and Robert King and None Others to be Judges Also by these presents we do Command the Sherr of our said County of Somersett that at the Severall Courts to be held for Our Said County he give his attendance and Cause to Come before you or any three or more of you as afd such and so many good and Lawfull men of his Bailywick Out of Each and Every hundred thereof by Whom the truth of the matter in the premisses may be the Better Known and Enquired of Lastly you shall Cause to be brought before you at your said Courts all Writts Precepts Process and Indictm.ts to your Courts and Jurisdiction belonging that the same may be Inspected and by due Course of Law determined Wittness Our trusty and well beloved Charles Calvert Esq.r Our Capt Generall and Chiefe Governour in and over our said province of maryland this Ninth day of July in the Tenth year of our Dominion &c Ann Dom 1725 Charles Calvert On the Back of the foregoeing Commission it was thus Endorsed viz.t Maryland fs Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To William Planner John Jones William Fasitt John Smith William Stoughton and John Caldwell of Somersett County Gentlemen Greeting we do hereby Authorize and Impower you or Either of you to administer the Severall Oaths appointed by act of assembly as also the Oath of Justice Samuel Hopkins, John MccClester, John Handy, James Dashiell John Scot and Robert King of the Same County Gentl or any of them and you the said Samuel Hopkins John MccClester, John Handy, James Dashiell, John Scott and Robert King or any of ^you^ having taken the said Oaths are Impowred to administer the Same unto the Justices and Commissioners Respectively as they are Nominated in the Within Commission and we will that you and Every of you haveing taken the said Oaths do severally Subscribe the test and Oath of abjuration and and for so doing this shall be your Sufficient Warrent and authority hereof fail not and when you have ye same so done you are to Certifie the Same under your hands and Seales unto us in our high Court of Chancery with all Convenient Speed Wittness our trusty and well beloved Charles Calvert Esqr our Capt Generall and Chiefe Governour in and over this our province of Maryland (this) |
