1724 14 and Queens of the Realm of Great brittain was held Called Known and reputed; and without any blott of fornication or incontinency or any the Like fault or hurtfull Crime or any Suspition thereof unspotted and unattainted by the whole time afd hath behaved and governed herselfe by pretext whereof the said Sarah not only the Love and favour of all her Neighbours and other faithfull Subjects of Our Lord the King deservedly had and obtained but also her person from punishm.t and all and singular her goods and Chattells free and Clear from all Penaltyes and forfeitures as the Law in Such Cases directs hath Kept and preserved Nevertheless the afd Tobias being not Ignorant of the premisses of his own were and wicked Malice forethought plotting and Malitiously Intending the said Sarah not only in her good name fame Creditt and Esteemation ^& reputation^ afd to hurt detract scandelize make worse and altogether to blacken and her the said Sarah into the Evill opinion and Esteem as well of all her Neighbours as other faithfull subjects of our Lord the King to Induce and to Create and Cause perpetuall discord and difference between the said Sarah and Thomas Holbrook her husband but also to Cause her Innocently to be brought into danger of Sufferring Corporall punishment or forfeiting six hundred pounds of tobacco or thirty shillings as the Law in Such Cases directs at a Court of the right honrble Charles absolute and Proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c held at Dividing Creek in Somrsett County by his Lordships Commissioners and Justices of the Peace the third tuesday of June being the sixteenth day of the same month in the Ninth Year of his said Lordships Dominion &c ann Dom one thousand seven hundred & twenty four Present the worshipfull Mr Joseph Gray Mr Samuel Hopkins, Mr William Whittington Capt William Planner, Mr John Purnall, Capt John Jones, Capt William Fasitt, Capt John Smith, W.m Stoughton Esq.r Capt John MccClester Mr John Handy and Mr James Dashiell Justices of the said Right honrble the Lord Proprietary the peace in the County afd to Keep as also divers felonies trespasses and other offencies in the said County perpetrated to hear and determine assigned a Certain bill of Indictm.t falcely and Maliciously did Cause to be Ingrosed for that the said Sarah Holbrook Lately Called Sarah Shiles wife of a Certain Thomas Shiles Holbrook Late of Stepney parish in the County afd Planter the tenth of July one thousand seven hundred & thirteen at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court Committed fornication with a Certain Person to the Jurors ^altogether^ unknown by means whereof the said Sarah afterwards to witt the tenth day of aprill one thousand seven hundred & fourteen at the Parish afd in the County afd was delivered of a bastard Child against the peace of the Said Lord proprietary his good rule and dignity and also against the form of the act of assembly in such Cases made & provided &c which said bill of Indictm.t so Ingrosed the said Tobias at the Court afd at Dividing Creek afd in the County afd to the Grand Jurors afd of (the) |
