Somersett County fs:
                                           Att a Court (of the Right honourable Charles absolute Lord and proprietary
       of the provinces of maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c) held by his said Lordships
    Commissioners and Justices of the peace for Somersett County at Dividing Creek the third tuesday
    of March being the seventeenth day of the same month in the Ninth Year of his said Lordships
dominion &c ann Dom 1724

       Proclamation being made in Usuall form and the Sherr of Somersett County to witt Jos:
MccClester Gentlemen being Called to make return of the pannell of the grand Jurors Return's the same;
which Jurors are as followeth viz.t

               Thomas Wright
               Nathaniel Horsey
 John Henston
Lazarus Maddux Poco
John Bevins
William Adams
Thomas Baker
Thomas Layfeild
 Jos: Houston
John Murrow
Cornelius Ennis
John Hudson
William Simpson
John Overton
 John Broughton
W.m Richardson
William Vaughan
John Huffington
Richard Rider
John Hopkins

    Who being severally Called appeared & were Sworn and Charged & Sent Out to Consider &c    who
soon after return'd and present to the Court here the following presentments being Content that the
Court Should amend form altering Noe Manner of Substance in them viz.t Mary Cook, Mary Chorne,
Honnor, Norgate, Samuel Tayler, Francis Pointer, Ester Jenckins, W.m Hudson & Ann Billingall thereupon
the Grand Jurors are discharged and ordered that they be allowed the Sume of
pounds of tob.o tob.o for their publick service to be paid next Levy Court and against the severall person^s^
afd presented (that hath not already answered) Its ordered that Capias Issue returnable to Next Court &c

       Whereas a Certain William Stoughton Esqr became Security to Save and Endempnifie Somersett
County from all burthens troubles Charges and Incumbrances whatsoever that might accrew by Mean's
of a bastard Child begott by one William Thompson of a Certain Mary Cook the said Thompson being since
Runaway and none to take Care of the Said Child so as afd begott by the said Mary Cook Except herselfe
and in all possibility the said Child in a Small time must be supported and would be^come^ a burthen to the
said County of Someresett         Thereupon the said William Stoughton prays the Court that
the Child afd of the said Mary Cooks might be Committed to his Care for his own Endempnity he being
Security ^as^ afd &c       Whereupon its ordered by the Court that the Said William Stoughton take ye
said                                 Case & tuition there to remaine &c
