217 Att a Court of the Right honourable Charles absolute Lord and proprietarie of the Provinces of Maryland & avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c held for Somersett County at Dividing Creek by his Lordships Commissioners and Justices of the Peace the Eighteenth day of August being the third tuesday of the same month in the Ninth Year of his said Lordship's Dominion &c ann Dom 1724 Present
Whereas a Certain Margrett Jervis having had a bastard Child by a negro by which Inordinate seed there accrews due to this County of Somersett Seven Years Service the said Marg.t Jervice Present here in Court the Justices of the same Court do proceed to sell the said Marg.t Jervice according to Law &c thereupon the said Margtt Jervice is sold by the Justices of the same Court for seven years to a Certain Merrick Ellis of Somersett County Gentl: the said Marg.tt Jervice to serve the said Merrick Ellis his heirs or assignes the full term of Seven Years to Commence from ye Date of these presents In Consideration whereof the said Merrick Ellis doth oblige himselfe by these presents to pay unto Somersett County the Sum of One thousand pounds of tobacco &c upon the Mocon of Wm Stoughton Esqr to have his Negro woman Sue tax free Granted as praid &c Whereas a Certain Daniel Hull of Somersett Carpenter having assaulted a Certain William Taylor of said County Contrary to his Lordships Peace good rule & Governm.t &c the said Daniel Hull present here in Court is Ordered by the Same Court to give recognizance in ten pounds ster with one Security in ten pounds Ster for his good Behaviour & appearance at November Next Whereupon the Said Daniel Hull acknowledged himselfe to owe and stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Right honourable the Lord proprietary his heirs and successors in the sume of ten pounds sterling to be Levied on his Goods and Chattles Lands and tenements for the Use of his said Lordship the Lord proprietary in Case he does not make his personall appearance before the Justices of the ^Our^ County Court of Somersett to be held at Dividing Creek the third tuesday of Novem Next to answer unto his said Lordship the Lord Proprietary Concerning all Such Matters and things as shall be then & there objected against him on his Lordships Behalfe and not to depart the Same Court with Lycence thereof but stand & abide ye Judgmt of the Court thereupon and in the mean time to be of (good) |
