   thereupon a Certain John Dennis Jun.r present here in Court undertakes for the said George Lane
   administrator that if in Case the said William Hopkins shall recover Judgmt in the plea afd
against the said George Lane or that he the said George Lane recover Judg be therein
Convict that then he the said George Lane shall pay the Condemnation of the Court thereupon
or render his Body to the Custody of the sherr of Somersett County in satisfaction thereof
or that he the said John Dennis will do it for him
       Whereupon the said George Lane in his Own proper person Comes and defends the force &
Injury when &c and says that he Cannot Gainsay the plft his action afd so as afd against him
brought nor Can he say but that the said plft Ought to recover his damages by Occasion of
the premises afd to three ^pounds^ two shillings and six pence and Costs of suite against him with Stay
of Execution till the tenth day of December next which the said plft does not gainsay &c
                Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here the seventeenth day of March
ann Dom One thousand seven hundred & twenty three that the said William Hopkins recover
against the said George Lane as well the sum of three pounds two shillings and six pence
Certain damages afd in form afd Confessed as also the sum of Three hundred & forty four
(344)     pounds of tobacco by the Court here adjudged unto him for his Costs and Charges by him
about his suite in this Behalfe Laid Out and Expended with Stay of Execution till the tenth
day of December next & the deft in mercy &c

Somersett County fs:  Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the
provinces of maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c   To
                                              Francis Allen William Planner, Ephraim Willson and John Tunstall of Somersett
       County Gentl: Greeting Know Ye that we have appointed you or any three or two of you to be
       Our Commissioners to Examine Evidences on behalfe of a Certain John King of Somersett County Gentl:
       Complainant in relation to the Bounds of a Certain Tract of Land Called Chance      We therefore
       Require you or any three or two of you that at some time as to you or any three or two of you
       shall seem Convenient you meet on the afd Land Called Chance and Cause to Come before you or
       any three or two of you all such Evidences as shall be to you or any three or two of you Nominated
       by the said Complanant and that your Examined them on their Corporall Oaths to be by you
       adminstred on the holy Evangelist in the presence of the Said Complainant touching their Knowledge
       or remembrance of my thing that my relate to the Cause afd and that reduceing into
       writing the several Evidences depositions you send the same together with this Our Commission
       under you or any three or two of your hands to us to Our County Court Somersett with all Convenient
       Speed Wittness Charles Ballard Gentl: Chief Justice of Our Said Court the 23d day of November
