to be free on the last day of August Eighteen hundred and Twenty six and the
said negro woman named Fender Thompson having made application to me
for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of Assembly in such case
made and provided and whereas also upon the oath of Edward B Hardcastle
of Caroline County that the said negro woman named Fender Thompson whom
this certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said Manumission
I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that from her age as expressed
in the said Manumission she was thirty six years of age the thirty first
day of August Eighteen hundred and twenty six she is about five feet four
inches high of a bright molatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline
County and is lame in her right leg and no other notable marks or scars that I
have observed  In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix
(seal)   the public seal of my office this 25th day of April Anno Domini 1827

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas application hath been
made to me by a coloured young man named William Stanford for a certificate
of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made
and provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to
travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and
whereas also upon the oath of Thomas F. Bourke of Caroline County that the
said coloured young man named William Stanford for whom this certificate
is made was free born I do therefore grant his said application and
hereby Certify that according to his own account he was nineteen years of
age the Twentieth day of March last about five feet six inches high of a
molatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar of
a burn on the top of his left arm over the elbow joint and no other notable
mark or scar that I have observed   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe
(seal)  my name and affix the public seal of my office this 25th day of
       April anno Domini 1827                              Jo Richardson Clk of
