a half inches high of a black complexion was born and raised
in Caroline County has a small scar over the corner of his left
eye begining in and extending in a range with the eye brow
towards the left temple and a larger scar begining over the
corner of his right eye and extending in a curve down to a
level with the corner of the right eye next the right temple
and no other notable scar or mark that I have discovered
                In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name
(Seal)       and affix the public seal of my Office this twenty
                fifth day of August Anno Domini eighteen hundred

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas a certain negro
man called Abraham was heretofore to wit:  On the 15th day of
October in the year 1792 manumitted by m.r Joseph Barwick of
the County aforesaid to be free on the 18th day of November 1795 as
by said manumission remaining of Record in my office reference being
thereto had will appear:  And whereas the said negro man called
Abraham hath made application to me for a Certificate of his freedom
agreeably to the act of assembly:  upon the Oath of m.r John
Barwick that the said negro man called Abraham is the identical
person who was manumitted as afsd  I hereby certify
that the said negro man called Abraham is about five feet
Eleven inches high and from the best information which I can
obtain he is about thirty three years of age of a black complexion
was raised in Caroline County he is blind (or nearly so) in his
right eye occasioned he says by an arrow being shot in it when
he was small also a small scar on the left side of his
forehead and none on the joint of his left great toe and also a
long scar about the width of a small grain of wheat on the
back of his right hand and no other notable marks which
I can discover.   In Testimony whereof I have hereto set
(seal)   my hand and affixed the public seal my office
this fifth day of august Anno Domini one thousand
