State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas on the thirty first day of may
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four Henry stubbs
of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed and acknowledged and recorded
among the land records of ^Books^ Caroline county did manumit and set free a certain
negro woman named Milley Cornish to be free on the 1st day of June 1824.  And
the said negro woman named Milley Cornish having made application to
me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case
made and provided  And whereas also upon the Oath of the said Henry
Stubbs that the said negro woman named Milley Cornish for whom this
Certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission
I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that she is thirty
three years of age or thereabouts she is about five feet three inches high of a
molatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar
on the left side of her neck apparently occasioned by a burn and no
other mark or scar that I have discovered      In Testimony where
             of  I hereto subscribe my name & affix the public seal of my office
(Seal)    this 16th day of June 1824      Jo Richardson Clk of Caro Coty Cot

our Lord one thousand eight thousand and fifteen James Boon of Caroline County by deed of manumission
duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the land records of Caroline County did
manumit and set free a certain negro woman named Mary to be free on the Twentyeth day of November
Eighteen hundred and Twenty one.  And the said negro woman named Mary having made application
to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case
made and provided; And whereas also upon the affirmation of Elizabeth Trayless of
Caroline County that the said negro woman named Mary for whom this Certificate is made
is the same person mentioned in the said manumission  I do therefore grant her said
application and hereby Certify that she is twenty six years of age or thereabouts she is
about five feet five inches ^high^ of a complexion nearly black was born and raised in Caroline
^County^ and has a small perpendicular scar on the top of her forehead & nearly in a
line with the ridge of her nose and another small scar on her left wrist between
the wrist joint and the hand.  And no other notable scar or mark that I have
observed      In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the public
(seal)      seal of my office this 15th day of July A D 1824      Jo Richardson Clk
