that I have observed      In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my
           name & affix the Public seal of my office this 21st day of January
(seal)   Anno Domini 1822   Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court


State of Maryland Caroline county to wit;  Whereas application hath been made
to me by a coloured man named John Clark for a Certificate of his freedom
agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided by which
said free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon
the obtention of a Certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath
of Joshua Boon of Caroline County that the said negro man named John
John Clark for whom this Certificate is made was free Born  I do therefore
grant his said application and hereby Certify that he is about Twenty
one years of age he is five feet seven ^& a half^ inches high or thereabouts of a complexion
nearly black was born and raised in Caroline County and has two scars
nearly contiguous on the back of his right hand and a large scar nearly
perpendicular across the inside ancle of the right foot caused by a Cut
with an axe & no other scar or mark that I have observed
(Caroline)   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and
( County )   affix the Public seal of my Office this 21.st day of January

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas application hath been made to me by
a molatto man named William Green for a Certificate of his freedom agreeably to the Act
of Assembly in such case made and provided by which said Act free negroes and
molattoes are permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a Certificate
of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath of Daniel Cheezum of Caroline County
that the said Molatto man named William Green for whom this Certificate is made
was free born I do therefore grant his said Application and hereby Certify that he
will be Twenty four years of age in March next he is five feet seven and a quarter
inches high or thereabouts of a bright molatto complexion was born and raised in
Caroline County has a scar across the out side of his right leg cut by a grass sythe
& a small scar over his left eye Brow & no other notable scar or mark that I have
observed            In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the
(Caroline)           Public seal of my office this 11th day of February Anno Domini
