State of Maryland Caroline county to wit;  Whereas on the ninth day of October
Eighteen hundred and seven Daniel Downes formerly the slave of Aaron
Downs late of Caroline county decd by deed of manumission duly executed
acknowledged and recorded amongst the land records of Caroline county did
manumit and set free a certain negro woman named Silvy to be free in
Eight years from the date of the said manumission and the said negro woman
named Silvy having made application to me for a certificate of her freedom
agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and
whereas also upon the Oath of John Bradly of Caroline County that the said
negro woman named Silvy for whom this Certificate is made is the same
person mentioned in the said manumission.   I do therefore grant her said
application and hereby Certify that the said negro woman named Silvy
is twenty two years of age or thereabouts the 9th day of October 1821
she is about five feet four and a quarter inches high of a dark brown
complexion was born and raised in ^Caroline^ County & has a small scar on
the right side of her upper lip over the corner of her mouth and two
small scars on the wrist of her right arm occasioned by burns and a
scar on the right hand occasioned by a burn & no other remarkable
scar or mark that I have observed
             In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix
(Seal)    the Public seal of my office this 16th day of July Anno Domini

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas application hath been made to
me by a black man named Isaac otherwise called Isaac Clark for a
Certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made
and provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted
to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free
born and whereas also upon the oath of Abraham Jump of Caroline County
that the said negro man named Isaac Clark for whom this Certificate is
made was free born  I do therefore grant his said application and hereby
certify that he twenty four years of age or thereabouts on the first day of
March 1822 he is about five feet six inches high of a dark brown complexion
was born and raised in Caroline county and has a small mole on the
right side of his neck and no other notable mark or scar that I have
observed         In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and
                   affix the public seal of my office this 16th day of July Anno
