145 State of maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas on the Eleventh day of August Eighteen hundred and three James Plummer of Caroline county by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro girl named Jude to be free on the first day of January Eighteen hundred and Eleven and the said negro girl named Jude having made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and whereas also upon the testimony of Joshua Cooper of Caroline county that the said negro girl (now a woman) named Jude for whom this Certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission. I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that the said negro woman named jude is thirty five years of age or thereabouts she is about five feet two inches high of a dark brown complexion was born and raised in Caroline county and has two scars on this under part of her left arm the longest end obliquely across the arm and the smallest one crossing the arm obliquely nearly at right angles with the largest one as described in the following figure / | another tolerable large scar on the upper part of the right arm two within inches from the elbow joint and two other small scars on the upper part of her fore head nearly in the following position to each other ͞ ^ and no other remarkable scars or marks that I have discovered In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the Public seal of my office this (seal) 15th day of July Anno Domini 1822 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline county to wit; Whereas on the second day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two Mary Haskins of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro woman called Anne to be free when she should arrive at the age of Twenty five years and the said negro woman named Anne having made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and whereas also upon the Oath of Joseph Fleharty of Caroline county that the said negro woman named Anne for whom this certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that the said negro woman named Anne is twenty six years of age or thereabouts she is about four feet ten inches high of a dark complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar on the second finger of the left hand between the first and second joint on the upper side of the finger and no other remarkable scar or mark that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal (seal) of my office this 16th day of July Anno Domini 1822 Jo RIchardson Clk of Caroline County Court |
