138 right hand and no other notable scar or mark that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and (Seal) affix the Public seal of my office this seventh day of August Anno Domini 1820 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit: Whereas on the eighth day of February in the year eighteen hundred and three William Webb of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro girl named Maria to be free on the first day of January Eighteen hundred and twenty. And whereas the said negro girl named Maria hath made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and being satisfied by the Oath of Elyah Satterfield of the County aforesaid that the said negro girl named Maria for whom this Certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that from the age expressed in the said manumission the said Maria was twenty two years of age or there abouts on the eighth day of February last past she is about five feet two inches high of a dark brown Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County has a small scar on the upper part of her left arm above the elbow joint caused by a burn and a small scar on her right hand near the joint of her fore finger and no other particular mark or scar that I have discovered (Caroline) In Testimony whereof I hereto Subscribe my name ( County ) & affix the seal of my office this 26.th day of September ( seal ) Anno Domini 1820 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas on the 25.th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine John Hooper of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro girl named Rachel to be free from the date of the said manumission and whereas the said negro girl named Rachel hath made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided and being satisfied by the Oath of Robert Pippin of the County aforesaid that the said |
