years of age is four feet eleven inches and three quarters of an
inch high or thereabouts of a dark brown or nearly black
Complexion was born and raised on Kent Island and belonged
to the wife of the aforesaid Thomas Burchenal who manumitted
her as aforesaid has a small scar on the right side of her nose
and another small scar on the upper part of her right arm
near the shoulder joint and another long scar on the finger
next to the little finger of her right hand obliquely crossing from
the knuckle towards the end joint and has no other notable
mark or scar that I have discovered
                In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand
                   and affixed the public seal of my office this

    State of Maryland Caroline county to wit
    Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro woman
named Sarah Farrell for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably
to an act of the General assembly of Maryland passed
at November Session eighteen hundred and five by which
said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel
out of this State upon their obtention of a certificate of
being free born  And whereas also upon the Oath of Solomon
Pippin of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro
woman Sarah Farrell for whom this certificate is made
was free born I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby Certify that she is five feet three inches high or
thereabouts says she is about thirty years of age her Complexion
nearly black was born & raised in Caroline County
has lost several of her upper fore teeth and has no other
notable mark or scar that I have discovered
                         In testimony whereof I have hereto set my
       (seal)          hand and affixed the public seal of my
                         office this 20.th day of October Anno Domini
                         Eighteen hundred and Eighteen
