agreeably to an act of the general assembly of Maryland passed
at November session eighteen hundred and five by which
said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel
out of this state upon their obtention of a certificate of being
free born.  And whereas also upon the affirmation of Joseph
Anthony of Caroline County aforesaid that the said molatto
girl Sarah Trusty for whom this certificate is made
was free born; I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby certify that she is five feet five and a half
inches high or thereabouts was fourteen years of age the twenty
second day of December eighteen hundred and seventeen
of a molatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline
County has a small scar crosswise on her left cheek and
no other notable mark or scar that I have observed
                   In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my
(Seale)        hand and affixed the public seal of my office
                   this 27.th day of July Anno Domini 1818

    State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas application
hath been made to me by a molatto girl named
Alice Trusty for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to an
act of ^the^ General assembly of Maryland passed at November
Session eighteen hundred and five by which said act free
negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this
state upon their obtention of a certificate of of being free
born and whereas also upon the affirmation of Joseph
Anthony of Caroline County aforesaid that the said molatto
girl Alice Trusty for whom this certificate is made was
free born.  I do therefore grant her said application and
hereby certify that she is four feet eleven & a half inches high
or thereabouts was twelve year of age the second day of April
eighteen hundred and eighteen of a molatto complexion was
born & raised in Caroline County the end Joint of
