and hereby certify that the said negro boy Kitt (now calling himself
Christopher Gardiner) is five feet six inches high or thereabouts from
his age at the date & by the said manumission expressed he
was twenty years of age in April last of a black complexion his
hair woolly was born and raised in Caroline county has a
small scar on the top of his right foot between the big toe joint
and the instep and no other notable mark that I have observed
               In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my name and
(seal)       the public seal of my office affixed this 16.th day of
                July Anno Domini 1818

State of Maryland Caroline county to wit;
                                                             Whereas application
hath been made to me by a molatto woman
named Kitty Banks for a certificate of her freedom agreeably
to an act of the General assembly of Maryland
passed at November session eighteen hundred and five
by which said acts free negroes and molattoes are permitted
to travel out of this state upon their obtention of a certificate
of being free born; And whereas also upon the affirmation
of William Wright of John of Caroline county aforesaid
that the said Molatto woman Kitty Banks for whom
this certificate is made was free born  I do therefore grant
her said application and hereby certify that she is five feet
four inches high or thereabouts  says she is about twenty
five years of age  her complexion molatto  was born
& raised in Caroline county  has the mark of a burn on the
left arm a little above the elbow joint and no other notable
mark or scar that I have discovered
                In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand
    (seal)    and and affixed the public seal of my office this
                24th day of July Anno Domini eighteen hundred
                and eighteen
