I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify
that from the age expressed in ^the^ said manumission he is
thirty nine years old or thereabout was raised in Queen Anns
County (says M.r Jump) he is five feet three Inches high or
thereabout of a dark complexion and no other notable
marks that I have discovered.   In Testimony whereof
            I have hereto set my hand and affixed the public
(seal)   seal of my office this ninth day of september anno
            Domini Eighteen hundred and seventeen

                   Maryland Caroline County to wit

       Whereas heretofore to wit on the nineteenth day of
       April Eighteen hundred and three Abraham Jump
of Caroline County by Deed of manumission duly executed
acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of Caroline
County did manumit and set free a negro girl called
Bet to be free and at perfect liberty from slavery on the
first day of January Eighteen hundred and thirteen and
whereas the said negro woman named Bet hath made application
to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the
act of assembly in such case made and provided.  And I being
satisfied by the oath of Mr Abraham Jump of Caroline
County that the said negro woman Bet for whom this certificate
is made is the Identical person mentioned in
said manumission  I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby certify that from the age expressed in said manumission
she is twenty nine years old or thereabouts she is
four feet eleven and a half inches high or thereabout of a
yellowish complexion rather chunky and wide set was
raised in Caroline County and has no other notable
marks that I have discovered      In Testimony whereof I
(seal)   have hereto set my hand and affixed the public
