Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

black complexion was born & raised in Caroline County & has no notable marks
or scars observable   In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name
& affix the seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this 9th March
(seal)   A D 1858

State of Maryland Caroline County to Wit      Whereas Margeret Ann
Satterfield Negro hath Made application to Me for a Certificate of her
freedom agreeably to Law.   And whereas on the oath of William M
A Liden has been proven that She is free bord       I do therefore
grant this Certificate:   She is Now about twenty five years of age five
feet & one inch high or thereabout of a chestnut Complection was born
and raised in Caroline County and has a small scar on the right
wrist and on her left hand
(Seal)                                 In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
my name affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County
this thirtieth day of March 1858

H Gibson hath made application to Me for a Certificate of his
freedom agreeably to Law:   And whereas On the Oath of Robert
Pippin has been proven that Said Robert H Gibson was
free born      I do therefore grant this Certificate he is now about
twenty one years of age five feet Seven & thee fourth inches
high or there about of a Molato Complection and has a Small
Scar in the left Corner of his Mouth & has No other Mark or
Scar that I have Observed was born & raised in Caroline County
In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe My name and
