43 was this day produced and delivered to me in a torn defaced and mutilated state by the said negro man Benjamin named in the said certificate And I further certify that the said negro man Benjamin has lost the two first joints of his left little finger which he alleges he lost since the original certificate of his freedom was granted (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 7th day of September Anno Domini 1830 Jo Richardson Clk of {see note of the delivery of passport} Caroline County Court {of negro Benjamin in Liber JR No A folio 60} State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas heretofore to wit: on the twenty first day of February eighteen hundred and four a certain Anthony Ross by Deed of Manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro woman named Sall (now calling herself Sarah Gibson) to be free on the first day of January eighteen hundred and five; and the said negro woman named Sall (now calling herself Sarah Gibson) having made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and whereas also upon the oath of Sarah Perry of Caroline County that the said negro woman named Sall (now calling herself Sarah Gibson) is the same person mentioned in the said manumission; I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that from her age as expressed in the said manumission she is about forty seven years of age five feet four and three quarter inches high or thereabouts of a dark complexion was born and raised in Caroline County has one scar on the left side of her forehead and no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 6.th day of November anno Domini 1830 Cost $1.00 Cts Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas heretofore to wit on the twenty first day of February eighteen hundred and four a certain Anthony Ross by Deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro woman named Charity (now calling herself Charity Allen) to be free on the first day of January Eighteen hundred and eleven and the said |
