To Joseph Richardson Esquire Clerk of Caroline County Court
                            The undersigned a free negro of Caroline County wishing
to visit the city of Philadelphia for the purpose of seeing her relations and
working &.c  By an act of this State it is necessary my intentions of leaving
this State should be made known to you it is my intention to return here again
within Six months from this date
                                     Given under my hand this 10.th day of January 1839
