that from his own account he was twenty five years of age some
time April last six feet and one half inch high or thereabouts
was born and raised in Caroline County aforesaid complexion
black and has had his right thigh broke and has no other
notable marks or scars that I have observed   In Testimony whereof
I hereto subscribe my name and affix the seal of Caroline County
court this 2.d day of January 1851

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit   Whereas
application hath been made to me by a negro woman
named Adaline Potts for a certificate of her freedom
agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case made
and provided by which said acts free negroes and
mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state
upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born
    And whereas also upon the oath of James H Born
of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro woman
named Adaline Potts for whom this Certificate is made
was free born   I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby certify that from her own account she is now
about twenty years of age Five feet four and a half
inches high or thereabouts of a black complexion
was born and raised in Caroline County aforesaid &
has a small scar just under the left eye and one on the
third finger of her right hand caused by a burn and has
no other notable marks or scars that I have observed
                In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
(Seal)       my name and affix the seal of Caroline
                County Court this 18th day of August ^January^ Anno
                Domini 1851

agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case made
and provided by which said acts free negroes and
mullatoes are permitted to travel out of this state
upon the obtention of a certificate of being free
born  And whereas also upon the oath of John
Gott Foster Green of Caroline County aforesaid that
the said negro man named John Henry Roy for
whom this Certificate is made was free born
I do therefore grant his said application and
hereby certify that from his own account he is
