267 of a dark mulattoe complexion was born and raised in Caroline county aforesaid and has no notable marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereunto (Seal) subscribe my name and affix the seal of Caroline county court this 16th day of September A. D. 1850 James H. Fountain Clk State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application hath been made to me by negro man named Robert Taylor for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case made and provided by which said acts free negroes and mullattos are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born And whereas also upon the affirmation of Henry Willson of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro man named Robert Taylor was for whom this Certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from his own account he is now about twenty two years of age or thereabouts of a dark chesnutt complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has no notable marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I (Seal) hereunto subscribe my name and affix the seal of Caroline County Court this 14th day of December A.
