231 she was twenty years of age on the sixteenth day of April last five feet high or thereabouts of a chesnutt complexion and has a scar on the left Arm occasioned by a burn another small scar on the left hand and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the seal (Seal) of Caroline County Court this 17th day of December Anno Domini 1847 James H Fountain clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit. Whereas on this day to wit the twenty fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty Eight a Certain William G. Comegys of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed and acknowledged and filed to be recorded among the records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro man named Isaac Earle to be free from and after the date of the aforesaid Deed of manumission viz the twenty fifth day of January Eighteen hundred and forty Eight and whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man calling himself Isaac Earle for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such cases and whereas also upon the oath of William G. Comegys aforesaid that the said negro man named Isaac Earle for whom this certificate is made is the same mentioned in the aforesaid manumission and that he is now free I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from his own account he was thirty nine years of age on the 6th of this Inst. five feet seven ^& one half^ inches high or thereabouts of a Black complexion was born and raised in Queen Anns |
