229 State of Maryland Caroline County to wit. Whereas on the twenty third day of November 1847 a certain Christopher Green of Caroline County by Deed of Manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land Records of Caroline County did manumit and set free from and after the date of said Manumission a certain negro man named William Green and application being made to me by William Green for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided, And whereas also upon the oath of Abraham Jump of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro man named William Green is the same and identical person named in said deed of Manumission and that the said negro man named William Green is now free, I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from his own account he is now about twenty four years of age five feet six inches high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline county complexion black and has a scar of a burn on the Left wrist joint extending up the arm & a scar of a cut on the Left knee joint & has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my (seal) name and affix the seal of Caroline County Court this 23d day of November A. D. 1847 James H Fountain Clk Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas heretofore to wit on the twenty ninth day of December in the year Eighteen hundred and ten a certain Elizabeth Slaughter of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro woman named Nann to be free when she should arrive to the age of thirty years and her issue if any to be free when they should arrive to the age of thirty years, And whereas application hath been made to me by Mary Price a negro woman (being the issue of the aforesaid |
