State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;      Whereas application
hath been made to me by a negro woman named Elizabeth Jane
Woolford for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the acts of
Assembly in such case made and provided by which said acts
free negroes and Mulatto's are permitted to travel out of this
State upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born.  And
Whereas also upon the oath of Mrs Catharine M. Sangston of
Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro woman named
Elizabeth Jane Woolford for whom this certificate is made
was free born.  I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby certify that from her own account she is now
about fifteen years of age five feet four and one half
inches high or thereabouts of a mulatto complexion was born
and raised in Caroline County aforesaid has a large scar
on her left wrist and has no other notable marks or scars
that I have observed

(seal of Caroline)      In Testimony whereof  I hereunto subscribe
(  County Court )      my name and affix the seal of Caroline
                                County Court this 31st day of October 1846
                                James H. Fountain Clerk of Caroline County Court
                                              Cost $1.00

Clarke of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro woman
named Ellen Shepard for whom this certificate is made was
free born.   I do therefore grant her said application and hereby
certify that from her own account she is now about Seventeen years
of age five feet high or thereabouts of a Mulatto Complexion
was born and raised in Caroline County aforesaid and has no
