five feet seven inches high or thereabouts and from the manumission
aforesaid appears to be thirty eight years of age was born and raised
in Caroline County and of a black complexion has a long slim face stout
and rather sharp nose for a coloured man hath a large ^mouth^ with very
thick prominent lips he has a small scar just under his right
eye about an inch long and upon a front view his right cheek bone
appears higher and larger than the left one ^and^ no other notable marks
or scars that I have observed      In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe
(seal)    my name and affix the public seal of my office this

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit   Whereas application has been
made to me by negro man named Isaac Wisher for a Certificate of his freedom
agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which
said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state
upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born and whereas also upon
the Oath of Abraham Griffith of Caroline County that the said negro man
named Isaac Wisher for whom this Certificate is made was free born I
do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that according
to his own account he was Twenty years of age the fifth day of July Instant
about five feet five inches high of a complexion nearly black was born and
raised in Caroline County and has a scar of a cut under his left eye and another
large scar of a cut by a scythe across the pan of his left knee and two
other small scars on the fore part of of his left leg a little below the knee and
no other notable marks or scars that I have observed
          In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the
(seal)  public seal of my office this 18th day of July anno Domini 1827

the Thirteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and twenty three a certain John Mitchell of Dorchester County by
Deed of Manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among
the land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain
