the obtention of a certificate of being free born And Whereas also upon the affirmation
of Elisha Willson of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro woman
named Annett Mackery for whom this certificate is made was free born, I do
therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from her own account
she was eighteen years of age on the twelfth day of January last past five feet
and one inch high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline County
Complexion black and has a scar of a cut just over her left eye another small
scar under her left ear and another scar of a cut near the end of her little finger
on her left hand and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed
(seal)                 In Testimony Whereof I hereto subscribe my name and
                         Affix the public seal of my office this 14.th day of May

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas heretofore to wit; on the
twenty ninth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand eight
hundred and twenty eight a certain John Hardesty of Caroline COunty and state
aforesaid by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded
among the land record books of Caroline County Aforesaid did manumit and
set free a certain negro woman named Harriett Primrose to be free and at
perfect liberty when She should attain the age of thirty seven years; and
the said negro woman named Harriett Primrose having made Application
to me for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such
case made and provided.   And Whereas also upon the oath of Josiah Eaton of
Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro woman named Harriett Primrose
for whom this certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission;
I do therefore grant her said Application and hereby certify that
from her age as expressed in the said Manumission she was thirty seven years
of age on the tenth day of October Eighteen Hundred and thirty eight four feet
nine and three quarter inches high or thereabouts was born in Caroline and raised
in Queen Anns Counties; Complexion dark mulattoe and has a flesh mole on the
back of her neck ^nearly^ between her shoulders and has no other notable marks or scars that
I have observed   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the public
(seal)               seal of my office this 19th day of May A D. 1840   Jo Richardson Clk of
