142 five feet high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline County and of a mulattoe complexion and has a scar of a burn on the top of her head and has several other small scars on her left arm near the elbow joint and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony Whereof I hereto subscribe my name and Afix the public seal of my Office this 8th day of July Anno Domini 1839 Jo Richardson Clk of Cost $1.00 Caroline County Courts State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas on the eleventh day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty nine a certain John Nicols of the County and State aforesaid by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land records of Caroline County aforesaid did manumit and set free a Certain negro man named Adam Baynard to be be free and at perfect liberty from the date of the said manumission; And the said negro man named Adam Baynard having made application to me to for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of Assembly in such case made and provided And Whereas also upon the oath of said John Nicols of Caroline County aforesaid the said negro man named Adam Baynard for whom this Certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that from his age expressed in the said manumission he is about thirty two years of age five feet six inches high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline County complexion Black & has a small scar on the back of his left hand two other small scars on his left arm and another small scar of a cut on the inside of his right leg just above his ancle and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony Whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 11th day of July Anno Domini 1839 Jo Richardson Clk of Cost $1.00 Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas heretofore to wit on the thirteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine a certain William Potter by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro woman |
