(seal)               In Testimony Whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public
                       seal of my office this 6th day of April Anno Domini 1837

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit   Whereas application hath been
made to me by a negro woman named Deborah Bromwell for a certificate of her
freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such cases made & provided by which
said acts free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this State upon
the obtention of a certificate of being free born; and Whereas also upon the oath
of Eliza Atkinson of Caroline County that the said negro woman named Deborah
Bromwell for whom this Certificate is made and free born; I do therefore grant
her said application and hereby certify that from her own account she was ^will^ be
eighteen years of age some time in August next five feet two and a quarter
inches high or thereabouts complexion nearly Black was born and raised in Caroline
County and has a scar of a cut on her right arm between her elbow and wrist
joints and has no other notable marks or scars that I have obseved
(seal)      In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of
              my Office this 22.nd day of April Anno Domini 1837

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas heretofore to wit on the twenty
first day of June in the year eighteen hundred and three a Certain Henry Driver
of Caroline County by deed of Manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded
among the land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro woman
named Lucrece and her male issue when they arrive to the age of twenty eight years
and the said negro man named Sullivane Henry being the issue of the above named
Lucrece haveing made application to me for a Certificate of his freedom agreeably to
the act of Assembly in such case made and provided and whereas also upon the
affirmation of Matilda Davis of Caroline County that the said negro man named
Sullivane Henry for whom this Certificate is made is free; I do therefore grant his
said application and hereby certify that from the account of of Matilda Davis
he was twenty eight years of age some time in April last past five feet two and
three quarters inches high or thereabouts of a dark mulattoe Complexion was born
