   County of Kent in ye Province of Maryland Carpentr was Summoned to answer
   unto William Hunt and Company of a plea that he render them the full and Just
   Sume or quantity of two thousd. four hundrd forty and four pds. of Every way
   Good Sound Cleane Merchantable Leaf Tobo: in good well Seasoned Casque to Con[=]
   tain the Same of the value of twenty four pounds five Shillings Sterling money
   which from them he unjustly detains &c         And whereupon the afd. pltfs. by
   David Macbride their Attorney Say that whereas the afd. Deft the ninteenth day of
   June in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and Ninteen att
   St Pauls parish in Kent County within the Jurisdiction of this Court by his Cer=
   tain Writing Obligatory which he the said Deft. sealed with his Seal and as Deed
   [d]elivered hereinto Court brought the date whereof is the same day and year afd. —
   [illegible]ed himself holden and firmly bound unto the afd Pltfs. in the afd. full and –
   [just] Sum or quantity of two thousd. four hundred forty and four pds: of Every
   way Good Sound Cleane Merchantable Leaf Tobo. in Good well seasoned Casque
   to Contain the same of the afd. value of twenty four pounds five Shillings Sterling
   money to be paid unto the afd pltfs. when thereunto required. Nevertheless the
   afd Deft. altho often required the afd. full and Just sum or quantity of two thousd:
   four hundrd forty and four pds of every way Good sound Cleane mer=
   chantable Leaf Tobo. in Good well Seasoned Casque to Contain ye Same to
   the afd. Pltfs or any of them he hath not rendered nor paid but that to them or any
   of them to render or pay hitherto hath refused and Still doth refuse to the damage
   of the Said pltfs. twenty four pounds five Shillings Sterling money and thereupon
   they bring Suit &                                                                     Jno. Doe }

   And the afd. Deft. in his proper person Comes and Defends the force and Inju=
   ry when &c and prays leave to imparle thereto and answer at next Court and
   he hath it and the Same day is given the pltfs also.
        At which Said next Court vizt. the 21st: day of June anno Domi 1720
   Came as well the Sd. Pltfs: by their Attorney afd. as also the said Deft. in his
   proper person and Rule was Given to the Said Deft. to put in his plea to
   the action afd. Ten days after Court otherwise Judgement to pass against
   him. And now at this next Court vizt. the 17th day of August anno Domi 1720
   afd. Comes as well the afd. Pltfs. by their Attorney afd. as also the afd. Deft in
   proper person and no plea being put in by the said Deft. to the afd Action ac=
                          but hath made default
   cording to the afd Rule^ whereby the said pltfs. remain against the said Deft. with=
   out Defence Therefore it is Considered by the Court here the 17th day
   of august anno Domi 1720 afd. that the Said William Hunt and Company
   Recover against the said Jacob Bell as well the Sum of Two thousand four
   hundred and forty four pounds of Tobacco their Debt afd. as also the
