   482                                          June Court 1720
   the S^d Joseph Wood or that he the S^d Joseph Wood Shall be therein Convict that
   then he the S^d Joseph Wood Shall pay the Condemnation of the Court thereupon
   or render his Body to the Custody of the Sher^f of Kent County in Satisfaction
   thereof or that he the S^d Maurice Carty will do it for him . —
        And now at this Court viz^t. the 28^th day of July anno Domⁱ 1720 the
   af^d Def^t here in Court present in his proper person Comes and defends
   the force and Injury when &c^a. And Says he cannot gainsay the plt af^d
   His action So as af^d. brought against him, nor can he Say but that he the S^d
   plt. ought to recover his debt by occasion of the p^rmisses af^d. to the Sum of
   one thousand Six hundred and Seventy two pounds of Tobacco and Costs
   of Suite against him which he the S^d Plt — does not gainsay.
   Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here the 28^th. day of July
   anno Domⁱ 1720 af^d. that the S^d Arthur Miller recover Recover ag^st the
   S^d. Joseph Wood as well the Summ of one thousand Six hundred and
   Seventy two pounds of Tobacco his debt af^d in form af^d. Confessed as also
   the Sum of Two hundred and Sixty two pounds of Tobacco ———
   by the Court here adjudged to him for his Costs and Charges by him
   about this Suit in this behalfe laid out and expended and the Def^t
   in mercy &c^a.

   Sherifs of S^d County to whom the writt in the S^d Action was directed and
   wherein their issued a Copy of the Declⁿ with the with the writt in the S^d Accõn
   the Sheriff of S^d County makes return of the writ to the Court here on the third
   Teusday in June viz^t. the 21^st day of the S^d Month anno Domⁱ 1720 Endorst
   Cepi Corpus Copy Declⁿ delivered in time p^r Simon Wilmer Sher
      Kent County in Maryland Ss. Samuell Phillips of Kent County Planter
   al^s Dic^s. Sam^ll: Phillips of Kent Coty Planter was Summoned to answer
   unto William Frisby of a plea that he render him the Sume of one thous:
   :and pounds of every way well Qualified Tobacco Cleare of all manner
   of Ground Leaves or trash in well Seasoned Cask of the value of ten pounds
   Sterling money which he unjustly Detaines &c^a. And where upon the af^d
   plt by Thomas Bowne his Attorney Saith that whereas the af^d Def^t the
   fourth day of November in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hun
   dred and Eighteen at S^t Pauls parish in Kent County within the Juris-
