   and the afd Deft by Thomas Bowne his attry comes and defends the
   force and injury when &ca. and Saveing to himselfe all and all manner
   of Exceptions as well to the writ as to the Decln of the Said Plts prays
   liberty thereof to imparle thereto and to answer at next Court which
   he hath the Same day is given to the Said Plts also

   was directed makes return thereof to the Court here on the third tuesday in
   March to wit the 15th day of the Same month Anno Domi 1719 being the
   day of return of Said writ Endorst Cepi Corpus Copy of the Decln Served in
   time pr me Simon Wilmer Sherf
   Kent County | Nathaniell Pearce of Kent County Planter Stands attached to

| Ss   Answer unto William Frisby late Sherrife of Kent County of
      Maryland    | a plea of Trespass of the Case and whereupon the afd Plt by
   Thomas Bowne his attry Complaines that whereas the afd Deft the —
   twentieth day of January in the Year of our Lord Christ one Thousand —
   Seven hundred & Sixteen at St. Pauls Parish in Kent County within the
   Jurisdiccõn of this Court was indebted to the afd Plt in the Sume of one
   Thousand Six hundred & Seventy nine pounds of Merchantable Tobacco
   for Levys of Taxables Commissary fees Sherfs fees Clk fees and Amerciaments
   then and there due from the Said Deft unto the Said Plt the Said Plt –
   then & there being Sherf of Kent County afd and So thereof being Indebted –
   the afd Deft in Consideration thereof afterwards vizt. the afd twentieth day –
   of January in the Year afd at the Parish County and Jurisdiccõn afd upon
   himselfe assumed and to the Said Plt then and there faithfully promised that
   he the Said Plt then & there Deft the afd Sume of one Thousand Six
   hundred and Seventy nine pounds of Merchantable Tobacco unto the Said Plt
   when thereunto required would well & truly pay & Content and that whereas
   also the afd Deft afterwards viz the twentieth day of January in the Year
   afd at the parish County & Jurisdiccõn afd In Consideration the afd Plt at the
   like Special Instance & request of the afd Deft and upon the Account and to
   the proper use & behoofe of the afd Deft had then and there last mentioned
   paid for a Certain James Williamson the Sume of one hundred pounds of
   Merchantable Tobacco aqs in an Account ready to be produced in Court Shewn
   the Said Deft upon himselfe assumed and to the Said Plt then & there last
   mentioned faithfully promised that he the Said Deft the afd Sume of one hundred
