    292                                      June Court 1719
   Whereas [a certain?] Elizabeth Scott being taken up as a Suspected run
   [away] [illegible] one of his Lord Ships Justices of
   the [illegible] by him Commanded [?] to the Custody of the Sherf
   [illegible] Same Sherf brings the afd
   Elizabeth before this Court [illegible] in this action is informed that
   She [was brought?] into this County [as a servant?] by one William [Turvil?]
   [Commander of ?] the Recovery The Said Ship Arrived in this Province the
   [23rd day of] October last And this Court is further informed that the master
   to whom She was Sold will not take [possession?] of the afd Elizabeth Scott
   on which this Court orders That She [have?] Liberty to go any where in
   the County afd to gett her Living and [illegible] her Labour to her own
   use untill the Said Elizabeth Shall have Some other care Concerning
   her
      Nathan Sturff [?] Servt to Robert Street [?] being taken up as a
   runaway and brought before this Court on which the Justices here
   orders that he be carryed to the whyping post and there [to?]
   Receive on his bare bake fifteen Lashes well laid on till the
   blood appeare and Then to bring him into Court againe after
   which came the Sherf of Said County and made return of his
   precetp in all things Served and Executed    pr Simon Wilmer Sherf.

          at | als Dicts Robert Gray of Kent County in the Province
   Robt Gray -    | of Maryland planter was Summoned to answer unto
   Jno Johnson of a plea that he render unto him the full & just quantity of four
   thousand pounds of Merchantable leafe Tobo. of the value of forty pounds
   Sterling wch. from him he unjustly detains &ca. And whereupon the
   afd Plt by Thomas Bowne his attorney Says that whereas the afd Deft the
   tenth day of March in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven
   hundred and Seventeen at the Parish of Shrewsbury in the County afd &
   within the Jurisdiciõn of this Court by his certain writing obligatory
   Sealed with the Seale of the Said Deft hereinto Court brought whose
   date is the day and Year afd did acknowledge himselfe to be [illegible]
   bound unto the Said Plt in the Said full and Just quantity of four [thousand]
   pounds of Merchantable Tobacco of the afd value of forty pounds Sterling
   to be paid to the Said Plt. when he Should be thereunto required Yet Nevertheless
   the afd Deft altho’ often required the Said Sume of four thousand pounds of
