   appeare at the next County Court to be held for Said County and to answer as afd
   and in the meantime he is to be of good behaviour wherewith he acknowledges

           at | Newsom late of lower (South Sarsafras hundred Spinster Servt to Rachell
    Rachell Newsam | Midford of ye. Sd County [w]iddow the first day of July in the Year of our Lord
   Sert. to Rachel Midford - | one Thousand Seven hundred & eighteen and at divers other —

days & times as well before as after at the Parish of St. Peters
   in the County afd & within the Jurisdiccõn of this Court the fear of God before her Eyes not
   having but by the Instigation of the devill did Committ fornication with a Certain
   John Haynes & thereby did Suffer herself to be gott with Child to the high—
   displeasure of Almighty God to the evill and pernicious example of others and
   against the peace of our Said Lord propr. his rule & dignity against the form
   of an Act of Assembly of this Province now in force in Such Cases made &
   provided

   under the preceeding bill was as folls vizt. True bill Cha Ringgold foreman
   and the afd Rachell being called came and in her proper person appeared
   to the afd Indictment ordered by the Court here that She prove the begitter
   of the afd Child . After having taken her oath Saith that A Certain John—
   Haynes was the person Committed fornication with her and thereby did -
   begitt the last Child She bore . And the afd Rachell Submits to the Court
   on the Same and Saith that she Cannot gainsay the accõn afd but that She
   is guilty as above Sett forth Therefore it is Considered by the Court here
   vizt. this twentieth day of November Annoq Domini one Thousand Seven
   hundred and Eighteen That the afd Rachell Newsam have on her bare
   back nine Lashes well laid on till the blood appear and pay the Sume of
   Three hundred and four pounds of Tobacco Cost accruing on the premises
   afd
   It is Considered by the Court here vizt. the Same day last mentioned
   That the Sherrife of Said County take the afd Rachell Newsam and Carry
   her to the publick whyping Post and to Execute the Lashes as in the Judgmt.
   afd and then to bring her into Court againe
    afterwards vizt the Same day last mentioned Came the Sherrife of Said
   County and returned his precept against the afd Rachell as folls vizt. In all—
   things Served and Executed            pr   Simon Wilmer Sherf ——
   ordered by the Court here that as it appears the begitter of the afd Child that
   the afd Rachell Newsam Serve two months it being for half the Charge of
   Lying Inn trouble loss of time and disgracce of the house and that She Serve
   the Same time at the expiration of her time of Service and also that the
   afd John Haynes make up for two months at the Expiration of his time
   ordered that She be delivered at the Expiration of her time &ca
