November Court 1718 Att A Court held for Kent County at the Court house in the Town of Chester in Said County on the Eighteenth day of November and Continued the Nineteenth Twentieth Twenty first and Twenty Second days of the Same month in the - fourth Year of the Dominion of Charles absolute Lord and Proprietarie of the Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &ca. Annoq Domini one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen Before~~
the Grand Jury which was as folls vizt. The Court appoints Charles Ringgold foreman John Ellis Robert Hodges John Taylor John Woodall Thomas Chandler Thomas Wendall William Elms Roger Hails Richard West Daniel Cooly Charles Greendige Charles Smith Richard Davis William Graves Josiah Lanham William Smothers which Jury being Sworn The Act of Assembly relating to the high offences and to prevent the Multiplycity of useless Horses and Mares &ca. Read. Charge given by the Court and Sent out M.r William Comegys Mr Samuel Wickes and Mr Marmaduke Tilden takes their places and Sitts on the bench The Court appoints fryday for Laying the Levy Mr John Johnson one of the attorneys of this Court being formerly Clarke of the Indictments His Said Commission Expiring at the death of William Bladen Esqr. his Lordships attorney Generall. and having not renewed the Same under his Lordships Present attorney Generall This Court appoints him Clarke of the Indictments for this^present Court John Young of this County brings a negro boy to have his age adjudged Therefore it is Considered by the Court here vizt. this Eighteenth day of November Annoq Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen That on view of the Same negro called Sirus he is adjudged to be eight years old Jams Smith Clk Eliz.a Lock Serv.t to Peter Green of Sd County Swears that James Dill of the Same County was a person Commited fornication with her and thereby begott her with Child who was Sent to the Grand Jury to declare the Same M.r James Horsley of Said County being desirous to teach School prays that he May have the Oaths administred to him as in Such Cases is Enjoyned the Same takes the oath of allegiance and Supremacy the Oath of abjurati: :on and also an Oath to instruct the Youth by him to be taught in the Articles |
