In witness whereof I hereunto subscribe my name and affix my seal on his ninth day of November eighteen hundred and fifty four Signed Sealed and delivered in Wm Shipley (seal) the presence of and dates alleved before delivering and signing W C Dorsey R C Green At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County On this ninth day of November in the year eighteen hundred and fifty four before the subscriber Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for the County of Anne Arundel County and acknowledged the above Instrument or deed of manumission to be his act and deed In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name paid W C. Dorsey 45 Recorded the 9th day of November 1854 To all whom it may concern be it Known that We Amelia Linthicum Theodore Linthicum John Linthicum Matthias Linthicum and Thomas Linthicum of Anne Arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations us thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated and manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free our negro man named Thomas Ogle being the age of forty three years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Thomas Ogle we do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to us our executors or administrators forever. Provided nevertheless that the said negro man Thomas Ogle conducts and demeans himself as a good citizen otherwise he forfeits the freedom hereby |
