79 and provided Acknowledged before Owen M. Taylor Recorded the 9th day of September 1853 Whereas the late Samuel Ridout of Anne Arundel County and state of Maryland did on the 21.st day of February in the year 1840 for and in behalf of James Blackstone a free coloured man of the County aforesaid purchase of James Iglehart of said County Trustee of Richard M Chase a negro girl named Mary daughter of the said James Blackstone with the intention on the part of said Blackstone that the said Mary at a proper age should be manumitted and set free and whereas the purchase money of said Mary has been fully paid and whereas the aforesaid Samuel Ridout has long since departed this life and the aforesaid James Blackstone is likewise deceased therefore Be it Known to all whom it may concern that I John Ridout of the County and state aforesaid administrators of the aforesaid Samuel Ridout and administrators likewise of the aforesaid James Blackstone in consideration of the premises and likewise in further consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the before mentioned negro woman Mary Blackstone daughter of the aforesaid James Blackstone being of the age of about nineteen years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro Mary I do hereby declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this eighth day of September in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty three Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Jno Ridout (seal) Owen M.
