43 this 19.th day of April in the year eighteen hundred and forty eight before me the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace for the said state in and for the said county personally appeared William Lomax he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be a party to the aforegoing deed or indenture and doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed. In testimony whereof I have hereto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid Examind and delivrd co 62½ J. W. Hunter Paid Recorded the 19th day of April 1848
thereunto moving have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Harriet Ennis being of the age of twenty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman Harriet Ennis I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or Administrators forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fifth day of April eighteen hundred |
