Deed of manumission from
            William Lomax
                      to
            Ellen Lomax
 Know all men by
these presents That I
William Lomax of
Anne Arundel County
in the State of Maryland
for divers good causes and considerations me
thereunto moving and of the sum of one
dollar to me in hand paid have released
from slavery liberated manumitted and
set free and by these presents do release from
slavery liberate manumit and set free my
slave woman named Ellen Lomax being
of the age of thirty years and able to work
and gain a sufficient livelihood and
maintenance and her the said slave
woman named Ellen Lomax I do declare
to be henceforth free manumitted and
discharged from all manner of service or
servitude to me my executors and
administrators forever.  In testimony whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
my seal this 19.th day of April 1848
