thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberate manumitte and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free on the twenty seventh day of December Eighteen hundred and forty seven my mulatto man named william commonly called William Phelps and being at the age of thirty two years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance the said mulatto man named William commonly called William Phelps I declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators at the expiration of the period above mentioned and expressed in this deed of manumission In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 23.d day of February Eighteen hundred and forty seven Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us W.m Brewer (seal) W.m Glover J.
