Thomas and Henry until the day of my death  Now therefore
be it known that I the said William Cook for and in consideration
of the premises as also for and in consideration of the sum of one
dollar lawful money of the United States to me in hand paid
have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free
and by these presents do release from slavery liberate manumit
and set free on and after the day of my death the said James
Thomas and Henry and them the said James Thomas and Henry
I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner
of servitude or service to my executors administrators or assigns
on and after the day of my death            In Witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of September
in the year Eighteen hundred and forty four          his

At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit:
Ann Arundel County to wit:  Be it remembered that on
this sixteenth day of September in the year Eighteen hundred
and forty four personally appears William Cook before me
the subscriber one of the State of Maryland's Justices of the
peace in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the
aforegoing deed of manumission to be his act and deed and
the negroes Rachel William Priscilla Edward James Thomas
and Henry and the increase of the said Rachel and Priscilla
therein mentioned to be free and manumitted according to the
true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such
case made and provided            Acknowledged before

7½   Recorded the 16th day of September 1844


To all whom it may concern be it known that I Mary L. Hammond
of Anne Arundle County and state of Maryland for divers good
causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further
consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have
released from Slavery manumitted and set free from and after
