170 E Deed of Manumission and Release of Service Whereas My slave Franklin Smith has enlisted in the service of the united states Now in Consideration thereof I George Wells of Anne arundel County State of maryland do hereby in Consideration of said enlistment Manumit set free and release the above named Franklin Smith from all service due me: his freedom to Commence from the 23 day of February 1864 the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the 30 Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the united states Witness My hand and seal this 28 day of april 1864 Witness G Wells (Seal) Wm R Thompson N Hammond L G Gassaway Anne arundel County State of Maryland 28 April 1864 U S Internal Before me appeared this day George Wells Revenue Stamp and acknowledged the above Deed of 5 Cents W R T Manumission and Release of Service to be 28 ap 1864 his free act and deed Wm R Thompson J P Recorded the 28 day of april 1864 E Deed of Manumission and Release of Service Whereas My Slave John Boston has enlisted in the Service of the United States: Now in Consideration thereof I George Wells of anne arundel County State of Maryland do hereby in Consideration of said enlistment Manumit Set free and release the above named John Boston from all service due me his freedom to Commence from the 26 day of February 1864 the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the |
