Now in Consideration thereof I George Wells of anne arundel County State of Maryland do hereby in Consideration of Said enlistment Manumit Set free and Release the above named John H Tilghman from all Service due me his freedom to Commence from the 24 day of February 1864 the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the 30 Regiment of Colored Troops in the Service of the United States Witness My hand and Seal this 28 day of april 1864 Witness G Wells (Seal) Wm R Thompson N Hammond L G Gassaway Anne arundel County State of Maryland 28 apl 1864 U S Internal Before me appeared this day George Wells and Revenue Stamp acknowledged the above Deed of Manumission 5 Cents W R T and Release of Service to be his free act and deed 28 ap 1864 W.m R Thompson J.
